Ways Technology Can Enhance the Classroom Experience

When a teacher was planning her classroom projects and presentations, she had to utilize a lot of mystery and imagination. All that teachers had as a resource were text books filled with words and pictures. So imagination and mystery were the only ways that students were able to truly experience the African jungles or the mountains of Switzerland. However, that has all changed with the introduction of technology and the Internet into the classroom.

Through the use of computers, computer software, the Internet and other technological resources teachers are able to truly bring the students to the places that they are studying. No longer is there a need to have to rely upon textbooks filled with words or outdated pictures. Teachers only have to hop onto the Internet and there are thousands of possible ways to bring a classroom lesson to life. Here are some of the ways that technology can really bring the classroom to life.

Videos. The Internet is filled with millions of videos. Teachers can show students what it looks like first hand to be on those mountains in Switzerland or to be walking through the jungles of Africa.

Video Chat. Every classroom loves to have guest speakers. However, not every area has someone who has experienced the Swiss Alps first hand. Video chat allows students to be connected to various people in the fields that they are studying. They can ask questions, hear about their experiences and really understand what they are learning.

High Definition Photos. Textbooks can get outdated very quickly. With the Internet, teachers can show students up-to-date photos of the places that they are learning about. Not only are the photos up to date, but instead of only having one photo, the Internet can provide hundreds of different photos so students really get to see what they are learning about instead of using their imaginations.
