Many colleges and universities are taking the step to transform their old classrooms into virtual learning environments. One of the first steps that these colleges and universities do is take away all those old, dusty chalkboards and equip the rooms with interactive Smart boards. While this might appear as if the smart boards are only being put up there to raise the image of the college, it is really being done to give the students a better learning experience.
Smart boards are interactive boards that allow the students and the teacher to be able to interact with what the teacher is doing. Everything that is on the teacher’s computer can essentially be broadcast to the room filled with students and shown to them. With this in mind, many colleges are making the switch to smart boards to improve that classroom’s image but also to benefit the students. Here is how the smart boards will benefit students.
Real Time Learning. Remember those days when a student would ask a question to a professor or teacher and they would get the answer of “I do not know I’ll get back to you.”. Well those days are long gone. With the smart board a student can ask a question and if the professor does not know it the class can research it in real time. Which makes the classroom a real time learning environment.
Interactive Classrooms. Many teachers are using the smart board to make their classrooms interactive. The teacher can project an image onto the board and students can work right at the board or with the computer in real time. These interactive images make the classroom more interactive then previous chalkboards or whiteboards and allow the students to learn better because they are having a more hands on approach to learning.
