Just ten years ago it used to be that college and university teachers and professors who wished to teach a class using a certain type of technology would have to put in a request for that media platform weeks in advance. Teachers and professors were fighting over who could use the VHS tape or the powerpoint projector. Now colleges and universities have started to make a change for the better and started installing smart classrooms.

Smart classrooms are classrooms in which the professor or teacher has access to a number of advanced technology right at their fingertips. There is computer and Internet access, DVD players, VHS players and even projectors or powerpoint presentations that can be used in the classrooms.

Smart classrooms were developed to reduce the need to professors to either have to provide their own technological equipment or wait for weeks to show the class a certain media presentation. Now the classrooms all come built with the media inside it and the classes are able to be more interactive.

The invention of the smart classroom has really advanced how students learn. In the past few years the world has become very dependent upon the Internet and other forms of media. Now professors and teachers can incorporate these forms of media into their lesson plans without having to worry that they will not have access to it.

Many students who have used smart classrooms for their classes say that they believe that the class was more beneficial to them because they were able to be more interactive and get more out of the classroom. The use of the media made it an interactive class that really allowed to them to explore the subjects that they were learning. This belief by students that they are learning more in smart classrooms than other basic classrooms is why many college campuses are trying to convert all classrooms to smart classrooms.
