When we were in high school, everyone talked about college. All the cool parties, the cool new friends, the cool majors, the cool on campus jobs. Now that you are in college, everyone keeps talking about this monster called graduate school. But you are about the finish school, why should consider going to graduate school? Simple, many employers want to hire people with graduate degrees. PERIOD. So that means another few years in school so that you can get a higher paying job, when you have the Master of Business Administration or Master of Arts or Master of Education degree. Now, how does one get into graduate school? By taking yet another fun, lovely, outrageously hard set of standardized tests—the GMAT, GRE, LSAT. But never fear, while you are in your undergraduate work, you can sign up for GMAT, GRE, LSAT prep classes to help you score higher and get into a better graduate program. Consider these tips when choosing a prep class.
1. Make sure you sign up early for the prep class. Many times these classes fill up fast since lots of your fellow classmates will be taking these classes too.
2. Choose a prep class that is designed for the test you need to take. Unless you going into to law school, you will not need to study for the LSAT exam. The same goes for the GMAT for business school. Or the MCAT for medical school. The GRE is pretty standard for the other non-specialized graduate programs. So, be aware that GRE prep classes fill very fast.
3. Be sure to choose a time in which you can devote hours upon hours to study for the test. Registering for a prep class during your busiest or hardest semester is not a smart idea. You won’t have as much time to devote to the test and won’t do as well as you could.
